introduction

Gamma oryzanol is a rice bran oil-derived combination of ferulic acid esters of sterols and triterpene alcohols.

Gamma oryzanol functions as an antioxidant within plant cells.

The molecular structure consists of two molecules in one: a plant sterol and ferulic acid.

The sterol (triterpenyl alcohol) is the most abundant component of the molecule. Hormones like testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, and corticosteroids are generated from cholesterol and are classified as modified sterols. As a result, Oryzanol may be thought of as a universal hormone precursor.

Ferulic acid is a hydroxycinnamic acid, which is a subclass of plant phenolic acids.

It tastes and smells like cinnamon in its refined form. Ferulic acid is a precursor for lignin, the polymer that makes up the majority of plant physical support structures. Ferulic acid is combined to sterols in rice to generate oryzanol. Other plants have it attached to carbohydrates, cell walls, cellulose, and so on, as well as in its free form.

Indications and Uses

Gamma oryzanol has been used to treat gastrointestinal issues. The normalization of nervous system control of digestive secretion appears to be the mechanism by which gamma oryzanol exerts its effects.

The Food and Drug Administration had not assessed the information and it was merely for reference purposes.
