| Introduction | Ginseng is any of the slow-growing perennial plants with fleshy roots in the genus Panax of the Araliaceae family. Ginseng grows in North America and eastern Asia, primarily in milder temperatures (most notably northeast China, Korea, Bhutan, and eastern Siberia). The presence of ginsenosides and gintonin distinguishes ginseng. The southernmost ginseng known is Panax vietnamensis, which was discovered in Vietnam. |
